The Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade Will Return March 19, 2022 on McLean Ave!

By Dan Murphy

After a two-year COVID postponement, the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled to return on McLean Avenue on March 19, 2022 starting at 1pm.

“On March 19th 2022 at 1pm we will once again march up the Emerald Mile. Please join us in this celebration of our Irish heritage. All sign ups will be approved by the LOM committee and band’s will be contacted after signing up here for confirmation & contracts. “Your feet will bring you where your heart is.” Irish proverb,” said the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade on McLean Ave. committee in an email-Facebook post.

A sign up page for those interested in participating can be found at the link below:

“We are thrilled to be back, it has been such a long two years in so many ways. The parade will be a celebration of so many things and we welcome all to join us,” said Deirdre O’ Mara

The last scheduled Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day parade was on March 21, 2020, but was cancelled at the beginning of the COVID pandemic.

The Grand Marshall Patricia McCrudden, and her aides for the 2022 parade have waited two years to march up the Emerald Mile.

McLean Avenue in Yonkers has earned the nickname “The Emerald Isle,” and in a few years, the Yonkers parade on McLean has become the 2nd or 3rd best parade in New York State. Behind New York City, the Yonkers St. Pat’s Parade and the Pearl River parade in Rockland are the next two best to enjoy.

The scheduling of this parade is a signal that perhaps we are returning to at least some sense of normalcy. And God willing, we can all say once again “Meet me on McLean,” for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
