The three major democratic candidates for Mayor of Yonkers are out collecting signatures to get on the ballot for a June democratic primary. Mayor Mike Spano is running for a fourth term. Councilwoman Corazon Pineda-Isaac is also running for Mayor, as is Margaret Fountain-Coleman.

One thousand valid democratic voters are required to sign a candidates petition. Mayor Spano’s campaign has already collected several thousand signatures. Pineda-Isaac’s campaign quickly got to 1,000 signatures and are now working on another 1,000 to withstand a challenge. Fountain-Coleman’s campaign has close to the 1,000 required and is working on getting another 500.

The current deadline to collect and file petitions is April 5, but might be extended to April 11.

The republican candidate for Mayor is Councilman Anthony Merante.
