Domingo Places in Top 10 at New York State Championships

Yonkers senior captain Ben Domingo finished 10th overall in the 55m hurdles at the New York State Championships on March 4th, 2023 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic complex.

Domingo, the senior hurdler earned his chance to compete with the best competitors in New York State. Domingo was ranked the 16th best 55m hurdler in the state entering the meet, and anticipated lowering his ranking while attempting to claim a state title for Yonkers.

In the preliminary heats, Domingo earned a time of 7.96, finishing 10th overall at the state competition, two places away from qualifying for the final. When asked about his performance alongside the best in the state he said “It wasn’t the performance I wanted, but it was the experience I needed to develop as an athlete.”

Domingo has had an impressive indoor season and is anticipated to receive all league, county, and section honors. However Domingo’s season isn’t over, he will be competing at New Balance Nationals at The Track at New Balance on March 9-12th in Boston, Massachusetts.

When asked what he hopes to improve on before the upcoming championship Domingo said “I just need to execute my race plan better”, which he will have less than a week to prepare for before the contest.
