Taconic Opera Presents MOSES March 21-22

Currently in its 28th Season and past recipient of the ArtsWestchester Organization of the Year Award, Taconic Opera invites you to the world premiere of a new oratorio, Moses, composed by the company’s Music Director, Dan Monez.

The work will be performed at the St. Columbanus Catholic Church, 122 Oregon Rd, Cortlandt Manor, on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00 pm, and Sunday, March 22 at 3:00 pm. This wonderful venue has its own parking and is handicap accessible. Both performances will include professional lead singers, the Taconic Opera Orchestra and Chorus, and will be conducted by the composer/Music Director, Dan Montez.

In his ninth oratorio based on prominent biblical figures, Montez has tackled the larger than life character of the man who freed Israel from Egypt, parted the Red Sea, and brought the world the Ten Commandments. Other oratorios and operas have been written on the subject, but Montez abandons much of the pomp and pageantry of most of these works for something more sacred and devotional. He describes his work as inspired by the impressionism of Fauré and Ravel, the calculations of Prokofiev, and the harmonic fluidity of Rachmaninoff and Puccini.
