Sleepy Hollow Schools Complete $350,000 Renovation Funded by Maj. Leader Stewart-Cousins

The Sleepy Hollow school community celebrated the completion of a capital project at Sleepy Hollow Middle and High Schools funded with $350,000 of state aid delivered by Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins.

The renovation of the courtyard, which serves as an outdoor classroom space, was made possible through state funding secured by Senator Stewart-Cousins in 2024. The project has transformed the courtyard into a safe and functional outdoor classroom designed to foster a love for learning.

“Investing in our schools is not just a financial commitment; it’s an investment in the future of our children,” said Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins. “I am proud to have supported this project, which will enhance the educational experience for students at Sleepy Hollow Middle and High Schools. This courtyard will serve as a dynamic space for learning, collaboration, and growth.”

The project was completed in time for the start of the new school year, providing students with a modern and inspiring learning environment. The space will be used for various educational activities, from science experiments to art projects, allowing students to engage with their curriculum in a unique and interactive way.

“Our newly renovated outdoor space has transformed into a vibrant extension of the classroom – where students can explore, and connect with one another in an inspiring environment. It not only enhances learning but also strengthens our sense of community,” said Public Schools of the Tarrytowns

Superintendent Dr. Raymond Sanchez. “This project could not have been completed without the funding provided by Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and we thank her for her unwavering commitment to the students and families of the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns.”

Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins joined Sleepy Hollow students, faculty, and administration, for a ribbon cutting and to tour the newly renovated space and celebrate this achievement.
