On June 25th, 2026 at about 6:00 PM, New Rochelle Police culminated an investigation into illegal fireworks sales with the arrest of a local resident selling $500 worth of dangerous fireworks.
Through investigative leads, officers identified Jushwa Budhu, 25 years of age, as a suspect in the illegal sale of fireworks conducted through an online platform operating out of New Rochelle. The investigation led to a transaction in which Mr. Budhu was taken into custody without incident. Mr. Budhu was booked and is scheduled to appear in New Rochelle Court on July 7th, 2026.
Officers recovered the fireworks involved in the transaction, which carried a value of $500 or more.
