The Salvation Army Yonkers Citadel Corps held its annual dinner Oct. 10 at The Fairways at Dunwoodie. This year, the Salvation Army honored City Councilwoman Shanae Williams, Yonkers Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Edwin Quezada, and City Court Judge Tom Daly.
The master of ceremonies was Robert Stauf, who has served on the Salvation Army board for many years as dinner chairman, and who has served as president of the Advisory Council.
“The work the Salvation Army has done and continues to do in the City of Yonkers and nationwide speaks volumes,” said Williams. “To be recognized for the work that I do in the community is a very kind gesture by the Salvation Army and I am grateful.”
The Salvation Army Brass performed musical selections, and all of those in attendance said they are grateful of the work of the Salvation Army for more than 100 years.
Since 1889, the Salvation Army has helped and served others without discrimination, assisting thousands in Yonkers and 25 million Americans annually. Look for the Salvation Army’s red kettles this upcoming holiday season. The Salvation Army’s place of worship is always open for all who seek spiritual nourishment and guidance. Its gymnasium is a safe haven for children to play, socialize and be mentored.
