Rep. Latimer and State Senator Mayer Assist Residents in New Rochelle

Congressman George Latimer, State Senator Shelley Mayer and their constituent services teams at a Mobile Office Hours event at the New Rochelle Public Library.

U.S. Representative George Latimer (NY-16) and his constituent services team were at the New Rochelle Public Library on Wednesday to meet with residents and assist them with federal issues, including delayed Social Security payments and IRS tax returns. They were joined by State Senator Shelley Mayer and her Constituent Services and Community Affairs team.

“It was great to be at the New Rochelle Library to hear from residents about issues they are facing, and introduce them to my staff who can help with individual federal issues. The federal government can at times live up to its reputation as a large bureaucracy and that can be difficult for a person to navigate alone,” said Rep. Latimer. “That is what my staff can help with. We encourage residents to stop by our upcoming mobile office hours to receive assistance. I hope to make it to as many as I can.”

State Senator Shelley B. Mayer said, “I am pleased that my Constituent Services and Community Affairs team and I had the opportunity to join Congressman George Latimer and his team for mobile office hours at the New Rochelle Public Library. As many New Yorkers face uncertainty about the future, it’s important that we meet our constituents where they are and make it clear that we’re available to assist with the issues they face. My team is always ready to help with individual concerns regarding state agencies. I want to thank Congressman Latimer for inviting us to participate and I thank my staff —Christine Fils-Aime, Director of Constituent Services and Community Affairs, and Luis Angel Ochoa, Constituent Services and Community Affairs Associate—for their dedication to our community and their commitment to helping residents access resources and services available to them and intervening on their behalf when necessary.”

Some examples of what issues can be addressed at mobile office hours:

  • Assistance with Medicare, Social Security, VA Benefits & IRS, including guidance on applications, claims, and resolving pending benefit issues
  • Expedited Processing for Passport Applications, including assistance with urgent and pending passport requests to ensure timely approvals
  • Support for Immigration Cases, including help navigating pending immigration applications, status inquiries, and information on DOJ accredited attorneys and legal aid organizations

Several additional mobile office hours have been announced for the month of April:

  • Greenburgh: April 22nd at the Theodore D. Young Community Center from 11am-3pm
  • Mt. Vernon: April 24th at the Doles Center from 11am-2pm

More dates and locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
