Now Accepting Applications – Yonkers Police Cadet Program

Are you a young leader ready to serve and make a difference in your community?

The Yonkers Police Cadet Program, led by the Community Affairs Division, gives Yonkers youth the opportunity to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and gain firsthand exposure to modern policing. Cadets learn directly from specialized units across the department, including Patrol, Traffic, Marine, Crime Scene Unit, Emergency Service Unit, K-9, and more.

Through hands-on learning and mentorship, participants strengthen teamwork, decision-making, and critical thinking skills while exploring careers in law enforcement and public service.

Eligibility:

• Yonkers residents ages 14 – 17

• Must maintain good academic standing

• Parent/guardian permission required

• Medical clearance from a physician

• Character reference

🖊Program Details:

• Runs from May – October 2026 (Graduation in November)

• Weekly Friday meetings

• Will take place at the Yonkers Police Athletic League (PAL)

127 North Broadway, Yonkers

Applications must be submitted in person to the Yonkers Police Community Affairs Division at PAL.

Applications accepted Monday – Friday, 8 AM through 4 PM

Deadline for all applications is Friday, April 3, 2026

This program is open to students interested in leadership, community service, and learning how policing supports and strengthens our neighborhoods – no matter what career path they ultimately choose.
