The Yonkers Public Schools has cancelled its previously scheduled first day of school for Friday September 3, due to a state of emergency issued by Mayor Mike Spano over flooding and damage from Hurricane Ida.
Now the First Day for Kindergarten to Grade 12 Students will be Thursday, September 9

- Friday, September 3 – Schools are CLOSED for all students, staff has a professional development day
- Monday-Wednesday, September 6-8 – Schools and Central Office Closed for Labor Day and Rosh Hashanah
- Thursday, September 9 – Kindergarten through Grade 12 First Full Day for students
- Friday, September 10 – Prekindergarten ½ day Orientation
- Monday, September 13 – Prekindergarten through grade 12 Full Day of Instruction
