ArtsWestchester’s new art exhibit, World Builders, brings together 15 artists who explore the growing influence of artificial intelligence, generative technologies and surveillance capitalism on human and non-human bodies.
Through a wide range of media, these artists consider how the body, expression and connection persist and mutate within technologically mediated worlds. Rather than treating technology as a distant force, they reveal it as something felt: a presence that touches, shapes and reimagines how we experience everyday life, both physically and emotionally.
World Builders opens October 24, and it features video installations, digital prints, hand-coded animation, and more traditional mediums such as glazed ceramics and woven tapestries showcasing the expansive influence the evolving technology has had on artistic practice and production.
ArtsWestchester CEO Kathleen Reckling says, “Without a doubt, we are living through a defining era. Artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are profoundly changing how we live, work, communicate and imagine the future. These tools offer extraordinary possibilities while raising fundamental questions about what it means to be human.” She continues, “World Builders invites us to reflect on the values, hopes and lived experiences that technology can never fully capture, even as it profoundly influences and reflects them.”
ArtsWestchester Associate Director, Visual Arts Programming Megan Meadowlark explains, “The artists in this exhibit engage with the excitement and anxieties of our rapidly evolving technological landscape. Through a range of distinct practices, they demonstrate that poetics, play, deep critical inquiry, and all the beautiful qualities that make us human remain essential and very much alive.”

An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, October 24 from 5-7pm and is open to the public. The exhibit will be on view in ArtsWestchester’s 2-story Gallery from October 17, 2026 – January 17, 2027. Gallery hours are Wed. – Sun., noon – 5pm.
