Mohegan Lake Man Arrested for Car Theft in Putnam Valley

This story hits home for those of us from Northern Westchester-Putnam who are used to leaving our cars unlocked, and occasionally “run into the house” for something with the car running.

On March 11, 2023, the New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested Robert J. Kristoferson, age 29, of Mohegan Lake, for Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a class D felony.

On March 11, 2023, Troopers responded to a residence in the Lake Peekskill neighborhood of Putnam Valley for a report of a stolen vehicle.  The caller stated they started the vehicle before returning to the house to grab a bag and the vehicle was gone upon their return.

With assistance from the Westchester County Police Department and one of their canine units, Kristoferson and the stolen vehicle were located soon after. Kristoferson was arraigned before the town of Putnam Valley Court and released to the Putnam Sheriff’s Office for an unrelated case with an order to reappear before the court on April 25, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
