Majority Leader Stewart-Cousins Hosts 130 Constituents at 2024 District Office Open House

More than 100 constituents and dignitaries from Senate District 35 were in attendance Friday afternoon, February 2, 2024, for New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins’ annual District Office Open House at 28 Wells Avenue in Yonkers.

Attendees were treated to a tour of Sen. Stewart-Cousins’ district office, had the chance to meet their neighbors from the 35th District, and got to speak with members of Sen. Stewart-Cousins’ staff who were on hand to provide helpful information about the many functions the office performs. Guests also enjoyed delicious refreshments courtesy of Yonkers establishment Jane Foodie and CEO of National Resources Joe Cotter, before hearing remarks from Sen. Stewart-Cousins. Sen. Stewart-Cousins thanked the crowd for their attendance and spoke about the importance of constituent services and being accessible and eager to provide assistance to constituents, community partners and other elected officials. Following her remarks, Sen. Stewart-Cousins spent the evening speaking with individual guests, posing for photos with those in attendance, and chatting with dignitaries.

“When people think about our State Legislature, a lot of the time their thoughts go straight to Albany, but it’s so important for folks to know that their representative in Albany is also right here in the district, active in our communities, with a finger on the pulse of what matters here in Westchester County,” Sen. Stewart-Cousins said. “It’s wonderful to see so many people come out to engage with each other and with my office, and I hope everyone knows that I’m more than your voice in Albany – I’m also a resource right here in Westchester and my office is always happy to assist you.”

Sen. Stewart-Cousins extended her thanks to all of the elected officials and dignitaries in attendance, including Sen. Shelley Mayer, NYS Senate District 37; Hon. Kathie Davidson, Dean of the New York State Judicial Institute; Anthony Giaccio, Sleepy Hollow Village Manager; Deana Robinson, Yonkers City Councilmember; Karen Brown, Mayor of Tarrytown; Jessica Galen, Dobbs Ferry Trustee; Shari Rosen Ascher, Dobbs Ferry Trustee; Erika Pierce, Westchester County Board of Legislators District 2; Arlene Burgos, Irvington Trustee; Nicola Armacost, Mayor of Hastings-on-Hudson; and Thomas Mitchell, Tarrytown Village Trustee.

As always, Sen. Stewart-Cousins encourages any constituents with questions or comments to reach out to scousins@nysenate.gov or call the District Office in Yonkers at 914-423-4031.
