On December 6, a group of six students and their work base specialist from the South Bronx Job Corps
visited the Yonkers Plant to learn about our operations and the wide range of jobs available in the food
manufacturing industry and within our organization.
Job Corps is a free education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of
Labor that helps students pursue careers without a college degree. The program offers hands-on training in a variety of industries and provides students with the skills and experience needed to enter the
workforce.
The students’ visit began with a presentation by Plant Manager Tiffany Dunnell, who provided an overview of our Company and the plant’s operations. Sr. Security Manager Henry Nurse then led the students on a tour of the plant, where they saw first-hand the variety of jobs we offer that do not require higher education. The students were also able to speak with hourly employees, including members of the sanitation team, about their jobs. In addition, students learned résumé writing tips and best practices from Human Resources Representative Andrea Stephens.
“The students were very motivated and asked great questions,” said Henry. “In addition to being a fantastic learning experience for them, some students were so inspired by their visit that they may apply to join our team, potentially adding value to our business for years to come. We’re grateful to all of our
employees who helped show our visitors how they can grow meaningful careers in manufacturing right
here in Yonkers.”
