This makes it three years in a row where YMA made it to the Yonkers City Tournament Championship game and winning it the last two times and going back to back!

The YMA Lady Eagles have been dominant in this years City tournament. How did they get there? Well on Monday December 12 the opening round of the tournament YMA defeated Roosevelt by score of 69-22.
In that game Sinead McGourty recorded her career high school 24 points, while Liliana Toro and Emilee Doherty both had 12 and 11 points respectively.

Then in the semifinal round, the Lady Eagles faced Yonkers High School. In that game YMA win by score of 64-27. In that game Emilee Doherty led all a scorers with 13 points, while Sinead McGourty and Arsela Mustafaj both had 10 points.

During the tournament, YMA outscored their opponents 202-76. This domination wouldn’t have been possible with our MaryKay leading her team and facilitation the offense, while Rayne Darcy, Sinead McGourty  and Britteny DaCosta drew the assignments of defending the other teams best players, while Ana dominated on the glass.

It must be noted that, throughout the tournament, our starters sat majority of the time after halftime supporting their teammates. The starters throughout the tournament were as follows. At the Point Guard spot is veteran Junior MaryKay Scott, the two and three guards were Junior Rayne Darcy, and Senior Sinead Mcgourty, our forward was Junior Britteny DaCosta, and Center is Senior Ana Ndoci.

YMA Coach Elie Moise said, “I’m very proud of our girls. We have a rotation of about 9 girls this year, and it’s showing. They work so hard, all nine girls played AAU in the spring, traveled everywhere from Spookynook to Atlantic City, and even Florida to play travel basketball. They work all year round to become better players. What makes it even better is majority of our lineup picked up a bunch of college offers to go play basketball at the next level! That’s the goal in our city. At YMA we try and out a good product out there then we send you off to college to play basketball! Three years ago when we lost in the chip, it hurt, and these girls all played in that and remembered how they felt and they used it as motivation.”

Congratulations!
