Jennifer Pierz Named Miss Columbus for 94th Yonkers Columbus Day Parade Oct. 1

Jennifer Pierz

Congratulations to Jennifer Pierz, pictured left, Maria Regina High School Senior, on being Selected Miss Columbus 2023 for 94th Annual-Yonkers Columbus Day Parade, October 1. She will have the honor of reigning over the 94th Annual Yonkers Day Parade on Sunday, October 1, one of the region’s largest Columbus Day celebrations which is expected to attract several hundred marchers from throughout the community including elected officials, representatives from civic and business organizations, families and individuals, among others

The news of Jennifer’s selection was relayed by Christina Figura, chair of the Yonkers Miss Columbus, a fitting coincidence as Christina, who graduated from Maria Regina in 2021, was selected as Yonkers Miss Columbus in 2019. Like Christina, Jennifer was also awarded a scholarship by the Yonkers Columbus Day Celebration Committee. Jennifer was officially named Miss Columbus 2023 at a selection committee dinner on August 9.

Excited at the honor of celebrating Columbus Day in such a prominent way in Yonkers, Jennifer said. “It’s a day when Italian Americans proudly come together to commemorate their coming to America and their Italian heritage. It’s a reminder that the U.S. is a nation of immigrants who have brought their unique history and cultures to our shores.”

Maria Carozza-McCaffrey (Class of ’99), Principal, noted: “The Maria Regina community congratulates Jennifer for earning this very prestigious honor. Jennifer joins the many Maria Regina High School students who have been selected for this honor over the past few decades. All of us—students, parents, alumnae, members of the administration, faculty and staff—look forward to celebrating with Jennifer in what will surely be an unforgettable Columbus Day.”
