Elmsford Woman Faces 25 Years After Conviction for Menacing Ex-Girlfriend with Loaded Gun

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced today that an Elmsford woman has been convicted on all counts presented at trial for menacing the family of her ex-girlfriend with a loaded gun and barging into the family’s apartment in December 2024.

Brooke Manderson, 36, was convicted by a Westchester County jury Wednesday of three counts of Burglary in the First Degree, a class B felony, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a class C felony, one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a class D felony, two counts of Menacing in the Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, and one count of Menacing in the Third Degree, a class B misdemeanor.

Manderson is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Robert Prisco on June 30, where she faces up to 25 years in prison on the top burglary charge. She has been remanded to the Westchester County Jail until her sentencing date.

DA Cacace said: “The defendant subjected her former girlfriend and the woman’s family to an unrelenting campaign of harassment, showing up at their door, menacing them with a loaded gun and demanding to see her former partner. Thanks to the jury’s 10-count guilty verdict, this campaign has met its end. I am grateful to the victims in this case for working with our office to hold the defendant accountable, and for the police and prosecutorial team who ensured she would be brought to justice.

“Domestic abusers have no safe harbor in Westchester County, and my office will vigorously prosecute all instances of domestic violence within our purview. I encourage anyone experiencing abuse or seeking flight from an abusive relationship to contact our Special Prosecutions Division at (914) 995-3000. Our team is on hand to help you find the road to safety.”

On Dec. 28, 2024, the defendant went to the apartment of her former girlfriend’s family, demanding to see her former girlfriend. The defendant then made entry into the building and began banging on their apartment door. After a family member answered the door, the defendant tried to shove the door open and pulled out a gun, pointing it in the family member’s direction and then at her former girlfriend, who was standing on the other side of the door.

The defendant then managed to barge her way into the apartment and, once inside, continued to threaten members of the family and menace them with the firearm. Once the police arrived outside the building, the defendant discarded the firearm, a loaded 9mm luger semi-automatic pistol, in the living room and was shortly thereafter taken into custody. This case was investigated by the Port Chester Police Department with additional assistance from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police. The case is being prosecuted b
