Westchester residents will continue to have a strong voice in shaping national policies on the environment, energy, and land use. The National Association of Counties (NACo) has reappointed Westchester County Legislator Erika L. Pierce (D- Bedford, Lewisboro, Mount Kisco, North Salem, Pound Ridge, Somers) as Vice Chair of the Environment, Energy, and Land Use Steering Committee for 2026-2027.
NACo’s Environment, Energy, and Land Use Steering Committee helps shape federal policy and legislation affecting county governments in areas including air and water quality, energy, land use, climate, waste management, infrastructure, and coastal management.
Pierce, Chair of the Board’s Parks and Environment Committee and Vice Chair of the Board’s Infrastructure and Housing Committee said, “County government plays a critical role in addressing community needs through infrastructure, investing in and administrating programs, and collaborating with other levels of government. For 90 years, NACo has amplified the voices of county government and helped make county government more effective. I am thrilled and excited to continue that work as a Vice Chair for the Environment, Energy, and Land Use Policy Steering Committee. With the challenges presented by rising temperatures, the reliability of our electric grid, the demands of data centers, and water and soil contamination, this work impacts every aspect of our lives.”
Pierce’s reappointment strengthens Westchester County’s representation in national discussions on environmental, energy and land-use policy.
