Boys and Girls HS Hoops Playoffs Return to A Beautiful New Westchester County Center

 
We received this email from a reader and resident. “Kudos to County Executive George Latimer and his team that made renovations to the County Center. After being used as a COVID site for two years, the redesign in incredible!

“I just went to a high school basketball game to watch my daughter play and couldn’t believe all of the lighting and videos, and the court is immaculate. -Henry Cisneros, New Rochelle. Two of Westchester’s best HS Hoops teams are Stepinac and Mount Vernon High schools. Stepinac is playing in the Catholic School High School playoffs and keeps winning. They play Christ the King HS this week to make the finals.
Stepinac has one of Westchester best players in junior Boogle Fland.

The Valhalla Vikings beat Byram Hills, 65-48 to win the Section 1 Class B title last weekend at the Westchester County Center. They move on to the regionals on Long Island.

Fresh off a 2022 State Championship, the Mount Vernon HS Boys Basketball team recently lost to Scarsdale, ending their chances at a repeat. Scarsdale then lost in the finals at the county center to North Rockland.

This is the end of a legendary run for Mount Vernon High School Boys basketball. For the first time since 1997, they will not be in the Secion 1 Finals. Mt. Vernon HS Boys Basketball Coach Bob Cimmino has done something nobody else will be able to match.

Somers lost to Tappan Zee in the Section 1, Class A Boys Championship at the County Center.

Two great Girls HS basketball games at the County Center included White Plains High School winning the Section 1, Class AA Championship 40-37 over Magnus HS.

And two Westchester Girls HS programs faces off for the Section 1, Class A Championship, with Panas beating Harrison 50-47.
