With the cost of living hitting every family hard, Assembly Candidate Frank Jereis is sponsoring a free haircut and bookbag giveaway to make sure Yonkers families can send kids back to school looking their best and with the supplies they need to succeed.
The event, co-sponsored by County Legislator David Tubiolo, will be at the Empire Barber Shop, 851 Yonkers Ave, on Tuesday, August 25th from 10 AM to noon. Registration is required and can be done by calling 914-523-3473.
“Because of Trump’s tariffs, inflation, and the war in Iran, families are struggling more and more these days to make ends meet,” said Jereis. “Every little bit counts, so I’m proud to sponsor this event that helps Yonkers families keep more money in their pockets. This is only one step – we still need to rein in utility and insurance costs, expand affordable child care, and lower the cost of housing – but I’m going to do everything I can to help our community afford our cost of living.”
“I’m happy to join Frank in sponsoring this event,” said County Legislator David Tubiolo. “We’re working every day to take on our high cost of living, from holding the line on property taxes to expanding services for local families.”
Jereis, who soundly won the Democratic primary to replace retiring Assemblymember Nader Sayegh, is a lifelong resident of Yonkers who lives the same financial challenges facing local families. He’s running for Assembly to deliver common-sense solutions, lower our cost of living, and improve our quality of life with safer streets and stronger schools.
