ASBO New York Announces John Brucato as New Board President

John Brucato

The Association of School Business Officials of New York (ASBO New York) is proud to announce John Brucato as the new president of the ASBO New York Board of Directors. Brucato is the assistant superintendent for finance and operations at Briarcliff Manor Union Free School District in Westchester County.

Brucato was sworn in on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, during ASBO New York’s Annual Awards & Inauguration Celebration in Saratoga Springs. His term as president of the ASBO New York Board of Directors begins July 1. The evening celebration was held as part of ASBO New York’s Education Summit & Expo, the organization’s premier professional development event for school business leaders from across the state.

Brucato has more than a decade of experience as a school business official and has been an active leader within ASBO New York. He currently serves on the ASBO New York Board of Directors as president-elect, is a past president of the Lower Hudson ASBO chapter and sits on the NYBEST Board of Directors.

As president, Brucato said he plans to focus on the value of connection, collaboration and the professional network that supports school business officials across New York.

“My entire trajectory in ASBO New York is due in part to the fact that we have such a strong network,” Brucato said. “I don’t know that I would be where I am today had it not been for my friends and colleagues that I have made throughout my career.”

Brucato said he wants to encourage members to rely on one another’s expertise and experiences as they continue to grow professionally.

“I really want to lean into the importance of ASBO New York, and each other, as resources and guides to better ourselves as school business officials,” Brucato said.

Brucato also plans to continue building professional development opportunities for experienced school business officials. He pointed to ASBO New York’s recent work around operational excellence as one example of programming that can support members who have been in the field for several years and are looking to continue growing as leaders.

ASBO New York piloted the Operational Excellence for Education™ Associate Level Workshop earlier this year in partnership with the Institute of School Business Leadership in the United Kingdom. The program was designed to provide practical learning in areas such as communication, conflict resolution, leadership and strategic thinking.

In the year ahead, Brucato said he looks forward to helping members strengthen their professional connections, learn from one another and continue growing as leaders in school business.
