Appraisers Road Show Coming to New Rochelle for Habitat

An antiques and art discovery weekend will be held to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Westchester on May 19 and 20 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The event is open to the public and will be part of Habitat’s 30th anniversary celebration on Main Street in New Rochelle. Guest speakers, as well as antique, art and collectible experts from the Appraisers Road Show will hold the event at Habitat for Humanity, 659 Main St., New Rochelle.

Proceeds will support Habitat’s 30/30 campaign (30 neighborhoods in 30 years.)  No appointments are needed.

The event offers everyone the opportunity to have their heirlooms and collectibles verbally analyzed and given an auction estimate. Specialized experts will be available to talk with directly. Category expert speakers will also be available for lectures. The public can bring their objects for viewing or, if there are a large group of items, team members may be contacted for on-site visits.

This will be the 33rd road show held in New York State in the past seven years, and will be at Habitat for Humanity of Westchester for the first time. Featured during both days will be leading experts in Americana, documents and maps, jewelry, silver, furniture, stamps, coins, toys, military relics, books, sports memorabilia, Chinese and Japanese objects and ceramics, rugs, tapestries, prints, posters, paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography and other collectibles.

“We are excited to have the Appraisal Roadshow come to SoNo New Rochelle, in the most historic Main Street in America,” said James Killoran, Habitat’s executive director. “Tom Daly will join us from the Norman Rockwell Museum to speak at 2 p.m. We believe there are still signed Rockwells, valuable coins, military relics and sports memorabilia, that are worth thousands right in this area. The Appraisers Road Show will help us raise money, which will help us raise more homes for families and veterans in need.”

A $10 fee will be charged for the first item and $5 for additional items, up to five. Any remaining items are free. For more information about the appraisal day, visit www.gotoroadshow.com or call 914-403-4821.
