The Butcher’s Fancy, located on 961 McLean Avenue, is known for its traditional Irish foods, most notably its Irish sausage. A while back, one of owner Oliver Charles’ customers told her boss about her favorite Irish butcher along Yonkers Irish mile.
It turns out that this young girls boss was actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who owns a home in Ireland and is always on the lookout for some traditional Irish food to bring home. Sarah stopped into the store, purchased some Irish sausage and Irish bacon, and took this photo above with owner Oliver Charles and his wife Elizabeth.
Sarah returned once again to the Butcher’s Fancy to purchase some more delectibles, but by that time the cat was out of the bag and a few fans and star watchers came by to get a photo and an autograph. Since then Sarah has not returned, but perhaps someone from McLean or Woodlawn is coming in to place her order.
It wasn’t the owners who spilled the beans about their celebrity customer. In fact they waited quite a long time before posting this photo. They didn’t want to toot their own horn, or impose on SJP.
So we will toot your horn for you. If its good enough for Sarah Jessica Parker, and many other Irish Americans in Yonkers and Westchester, its worth a visit. Look f
