Aisling Community Center Dinner Gala

The Aisling Community Center will hold its annual dinner-dance Sept. 27 at Mulino’s Lake Isle Country Club in Eastchester.

This year’s honorees are:

Breda Carroll, Team Aisling chairperson – An accomplished footballer and GAA stalwart, Carroll has worked tirelessly as a champion for NY Ladies GAA and Cavan ladies GAA, and served as secretary for County Cork Gaelic Football Club for 10 years. She has also been a driving force behind many initiatives for County Cork Association in New York for the past 20 years.

“With her successful history of club development, we are delighted to have Breda as our Team Aisling chairperson,” stated the center. “Breda has organized boot camp classes and training sessions to get Team Aisling into shape, and she still finds the time to help with numerous fundraisers in the community.”

Noel and Geraldine McGovern of G & N McGovern Insurance Agency Inc. – The McGoverns are hugely supportive of the Irish community in many ways. While busy growing their successful insurance business, their love of Derry and Fermanagh is reflected in the time they also devote to local initiatives and clubs.

Noel has served on the Board of Directors of the Aisling Center for the past 18 years and has also managed to share his time with the NY GAA. “His dedication as a youth coach is truly appreciated as he recruits, inspires and encourages young children to enjoy the Gaelic sport and do the best they can,” said the center.

Geraldine is a volunteer for several cultural programs including Scór NY and the newly formed Aisling Center Céilí Band/Ballad Group. Their children Sinead and Emmett are both involved in GAA and Irish music.

Dr. Edwin Pan, OB-GYN – Pan is an unsung hero in the Irish community who has quietly worked behind the scenes to assist Irish immigrants not only through his bb-gyn practice, but also the injured at Gaelic Park and beyond. He is respected as a compassionate community worker who has an understanding of immigrant life, their needs, and the assistance they might require.

“The Aisling community is proud to honor Dr. Pan for his commitment to our Irish community as he simply changes lives with his clinical professionalism, warm heart and love of families,” stated the center.

The public’s support of these honorees allows the Aisling Center to continue to do what it does best – serve the needs of the Irish community in the area through regular and seasonal programs and services. For more information, visit aislingcenter.org or call 914-237-5121.
