Stepinac Student from Greenburgh Accepted to Yale

Kyle Shepherd

Kyle Shepherd, a Stepinac High School senior and a distinguished volunteer of Town of Greenburgh community programs, has been admitted to Yale University where he will begin his studies in August 2021.

In a December 22 post, Town of Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner congratulated Kyle, stating the young been appointed in early 2020 as a member of the Greenburgh Police Community Advisory Board and who was a graduate of the summer police summer youth camp. “Kyle was also a Greenburgh summer intern who introduced former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to fellow interns during a Zoom meeting …” He added: “Kyle told me that his experiences working with Greenburgh officials helped prepare him for his upcoming education at Yale.”

A member of Stepinac’s Honors Academy, the only-one-of-its-kind-in-the-region, advanced, small learning program for academically top performing students, Kyle completed with distinction the Town of Greenburg’s 12th Annual Summer Intern Program. He was among a group of 30 interns who participated in the program designed to prepare Greenburgh’s youth for success by fostering communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership skills.

He collaborated with other interns to produce a series of video public service announcements that were aired over the Town of Greenburgh’s public access TV stations. Among the topics addressed were racism, the need to wear masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the importance of participating in the census and pedestrian safety.

In addition to his academic and community achievements, Kyle has excelled as an athlete as a member of Stepinac’s cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. . For more information, visit www.Stepinac.org
