With four weeks to go until election day, Westchester County Democrats joined together Tuesday night for the unanimous election of County Committee leadership.

Berger was joined by a slate including several new members — First Vice Chair Lila E. Kirton as well as new Vice Chairs Steve Bass, Tajian M. Nelson, new secretary Copernicus Crane and new Assistant Treasurer Celina Guerra. Also re-elected were incumbents Second Vice Chair Bruce Campbell; Vice Chairs Joseph Apicella, Don Buchwald, Tom Meier, Jr., Anthony Nicodemo, Louis Sanchez, Terry Clements, Terry Degatano, Linda Fernberg, Ximena Francella, and Karen Pecora; as well as incumbent treasurer Marcel Florestal and incumbent assistant secretary Diana Toledo.

Berger said, “In a generation, Westchester County has gone from a long-time Republican stronghold to a Democratic powerhouse. We did it through good governance by great elected leaders at the county and local levels, through the dedicated efforts in election after election of hundreds of district leaders and local chairs, and through cooperation with and outreach to grassroots groups which whom we share the values of open democracy, economic opportunity and social justice. I’m grateful for the continued support of all our district leaders and I’m proud to serve alongside this amazing slate of distinguished volunteers.

“In this moment when our nation’s democratic values, economic vitality, social safety net, and basic civil rights are under relentless assault, the work we do to elect candidates who share our vision and values has never been more important. I’m looking forward for the sprint to November.

“We have some of the most consequential races facing our nation and our state on the ballot this year from the race to defeat Mike Lawler and his pro-Trump rubber stamp voting record, to the race to re-elect Kathy Hochul in the face of her MAGA challenger. We also have Democratic candidates up for election in every one of Westchester’ 17 County Legislative Districts. I’m proud to say Westchester Dems are ready to lead the fight.”
