Polling Places Announced for Early Voting

School Budget Absentee Ballot Deadline Extended to June 16

By Dan Murphy

School Board elections and budget votes were held remotely across Westchester on June 9, despite the fact that many residents and voters did not received their absentee ballots. As a result, Governor Andrew Cuomo extended the period of time that voters could mail in their school district absentee ballot until June 16.
Cuomo also extended the deadline to submit absentee ballots for the upcoming democratic primaries until June 23, the same date as the primary across Westchester.
In New Rochelle, ballots for the New Rochelle schools budget and school board did not receive many residents as of June 6. On June 6, the New Rochelle School District made ballots available for pick up at City Hall last weekend.
But many residents wanted their ballots mailed to them per the agreement. Problems with the post office and troubles with the printer making up the ballots were blamed by several school districts in the state who didn’t get them out ontime.
If you never received your absentee ballot for School Board and the School Budget vote in your district, call you Superintendent, there is still time for you to get your ballot and vote, until June 16.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed our world, and while we are making great progress and the numbers keep going down, no New Yorker should have to choose between their health and their right to vote,” Governor Cuomo said. “Extending the deadline to submit absentee ballots builds on our previous Executive Orders to make it easier for New Yorkers to vote absentee in the upcoming primary election and it will help to increase voter participation as we continue to fight this virus.”
For Primary Day in New York, on June 23, voters will have the option of mailing in their absentee ballot or voting in person. If you choose to vote in person you have the choice of voting on June 23, or you can participate in early voting.
