“We are exceedingly proud of the 2026 numbers thus far and of just how far Playland has come. After Standard Amusements abandoned the park in 2025, leaving it in disarray, Westchester County stepped in with a commitment to restore, rebuild and bring Playland back to the place generations of families know and love.

“This summer certainly tested us. We faced extreme heat, heavy rain and even wildfire smoke – but through it all, Playland carried on, and we made the Summer 2026 season one to remember.

“Every person who walked through Playland’s gates this summer experienced a park that was refreshed, immaculate, welcoming and, most importantly, happy. Playland was once again what it was always meant to be: a place where memories are made.

“We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated Playland staff who pour their hearts and souls into maintaining this historic park every day. We are equally proud of our seasonal staff – so many of them young people from right here in Westchester County, spending their summers at Playland, often working their very first jobs. While they helped create lifelong memories for our visitors, they were making memories of their own.

“And lastly, we thank all of Playland’s devoted enthusiasts, including Friends of Rye Playland and the group’s President Robin Latimer, for their love of this iconic park. Their passion, advocacy and tireless support help keep the spirit of Playland alive and ensure it continues to be celebrated for generations to come.

“We look forward to closing out this incredible season with Scared by the Sound, and then turning our attention to 2027. Next year, we will once again open Playland’s gates so another generation of Westchester children can experience the rides, the cotton candy, the sunshine and the simple magic of a summer day at Playland. Playland is back, and its future is bright
