Thanks Yonkers Girl Scout Trinity Thibert for Building a Lending Library at Coyne Park

L-R-Council Majority Leader John Rubbo, Mayor Mike Spano, Girl Scout Trinity Thibert, Councilwoman and former Girl Scout Tasha Diaz

Hey Yonkers, have you seen the little library at Coyne Park?

Trinity Thibert from Girl Scout Troop 1787 built little lending libraries all around Yonkers for her Silver Award project. The idea is simple. You take a book, you leave a book. No library card and no late fees.

By the time Mayor Spano came out to honor her, she had already collected more than 800 books. Trinity didn’t wait for permission. She saw something Yonkers needed and she built it.

As a dad of three, I know how much it means to have books close to home for our kids. Thank you, Trinity. This is what community looks like in Yonkers.

Next time you walk by one, leave a book.
