More than 20 years after its production, independent filmmaker Sal Ciavarello, from the Bronx, will have his film THE WICKED screened at the Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers on October 29, at 8pm.
THE WICKED (2004) is an unreleased horror film that was filmed locally in Yonkers, the Bronx and Manhattan. The film also features practical special effects by Vincent J. Guastini, whose credits include DOGMA and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM.
THE WICKED is a horror/action film with a deliberately over-the-top, darkly comic, comic-book sensibility. Set in a world where Satanism has been outlawed across the United States, the story follows Grace, the queen of a secret Satanic order, after she is betrayed and hunted by descendants of the Knights Templar.
THE WICKED was Ciavarello’s second feature film. In 2000 he shot another horror film HARDCORE POISONED EYES, which recently received a 25th-anniversary Blu-ray release through Saturn’s Core/Vinegar Syndrome and was featured in Rue Morgue magazine a month ago.
“More than two decades after THE WICKED was originally shot, I’m finally getting the opportunity to show the completed film to an audience, and I’m especially excited that its New York premiere will take place locally at Alamo Drafthouse in Yonkers,” said Ciavarello.
