Forum part of monthlong celebration of fatherhood sponsored by the White Plains Youth Bureau
In 1969, the singing group The Winstons recorded the inspirational song “Color Him Father,” which went on to become a hit record and a memorable tribute to the role of fathers.
More than five decades later, the spirit of that song continues to resonate in White Plains.
JumpStart for Dads, the White Plains Youth Bureau, and the New York Fathering Conference Committee will sponsor a community forum, “Color Him Father,” on Wednesday, September 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the White Plains Public Library.
The program is designed as a tribute to fathers who are striving to live lives of purpose, responsibility, love, and service to their families and communities. The forum will provide a platform for fathers to share their personal journeys into fatherhood, discuss the challenges and rewards of being a father, and reflect on the importance of positive father engagement.
The featured panelists will include four fathers from the community:
- Jamie Arkley
- Nick Camardella
- Spencer Marin
- Jose Rodriguez
Through their personal stories and experiences, the panelists will explore what fatherhood means to them, the lessons they have learned along the way, and how their experiences as fathers have shaped their commitment to their children, families, and communities.
“Color Him Father” is part of the ongoing efforts of JumpStart for Dads and its partners to promote positive father involvement and create opportunities for men to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen their families.
The organizers believe that every father has a story worth hearing and that sharing those stories can inspire other men who are beginning or continuing their own journeys into fatherhood.
The “Color Him Father” community forum is free and open to the public.
