Update on Stabbing at Westchester Community College: Two Injured and Two Arrested

UPDATE: TWO PERSONS STABBED AT WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Incident Remains Under Investigation by Westchester County Police

Two persons were stabbed and two are in custody following a dispute that turned physical at Westchester Community College this afternoon. An earlier report that three persons were stabbed was erroneous.

Medical staff have confirmed that the two people taken by ambulance to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla suffered stab wounds. One was seriously injured and required surgery. Two other persons, now identified as suspects in the incident, were taken to Phelps Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. They were treated for various injuries, including lacerations, but neither suffered a stab wound.

Westchester County Police received multiple 911 calls about 12:40 p.m. reporting that several people were stabbed during a fight at the college. Two suspects were identified and a knife was recovered. Charges are pending.

The persons involved in the incident are current or former WCC students. The full circumstances of the incident remain under investigation by Westchester County Police detectives.

In addition, the County Police also maintain telephone and electronic tips lines so the public can provide information. Calls, e-mails and text messages to these tips lines are confidential. Tipsters can remain anonymous if they chose.

TWO PERSONS CHARGED WITH ASSAULT IN WESTCHESTER COMMUNITY COLLEGE STABBING

Incident Remains Under Investigation by Westchester County Police

Two persons were charged last night with Assault 1st Degree, a felony, in connection with the stabbings that occurred yesterday at Westchester Community College.

A17-year-old girl was arraigned last night in Greenburgh Town Court. She was remanded to the Woodfield Cottage juvenile detention facility in Valhalla. Due to her age, her case will be handled in the Westchester County Court Youth Part.

The second suspect is an 18-year-old male. He will be arraigned later this morning in Greenburgh Town Court and more information will be available at that time.

The victim who was most seriously injured yesterday remains hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. The second victim was treated there yesterday and released.

The investigation is continuing into the full circumstances of the incident.
