Important Water Update for Yonkers Residents-Boil Water Advisory

The City of Yonkers announced a water shutdown will take place today, Wednesday, August 26, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Nepperhan Avenue between Lake Avenue and Ashburton Avenue while the City makes a permanent repair to Sunday’s water main break.

The Westchester County Department of Health has issued a boil water advisory for the following areas due to a water main break and repair:

Moquette Row North:
48–63 and 69–84

Nepperhan Avenue (between Lake and Ashburton Avenues):
430, 450, 460, 470, 490, 500, 510, 530, 540 and 578

Residents in these areas should boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, washing dishes by hand or brushing teeth.

Bathing, washing clothes and using a dishwasher are safe.

This advisory is a precaution due to the potential for contamination caused by reduced water pressure from the water main break.

Impacted residents will also receive a robo call with the information and bottled water will be delivered to affected homes and businesses.

Residents nearby may experience low water pressure or discolored water. If your water is discolored, run the cold water until it runs clear and check the water before using it for drinking, cooking or washing clothes.

Residents with questions or concerns can contact:
24-Hour Mayor’s Help Line: (914) 377-4357
Yonkers Water Bureau: (914) 377-6765
Westchester County Health Department: (914) 813-5000
