As Yogi Berra once said, it was déjà vu all over again.
Back on July 22, an officer conducting traffic enforcement near Barker Street and Carpenter Avenue in Mount Kisco observed a car that was being driven erratically. Following a traffic stop at 9:25 p.m. and subsequent investigation, the driver, a 59-year-old White Plains man, was arrested on charges of Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree (suspected cocaine and Oxycodone not prescribed to him). Also, summonses were issued for various Vehicle & Traffic Law violations. The vehicle, a Ford Mustang with Virginia plates, was impounded.
Fast forward to July 30. The same officer was conducting enforcement at Barker Street and North Bedford Road at 8:25 a.m. when he spotted a vehicle coming his way that looked pretty familiar. Same car as the week before. Same driver as the week before.
A traffic stop was made and events unfolded in a similar way. The driver was again found in possession of illegal narcotics (this time it was 34 Zolpidem pills not prescribed to him). He still lacked a valid driver’s license. Once again he was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd. Degree. More summonses were issued for various V&T violations.
These two arrests stemmed from increased traffic enforcement that our Mount Kisco officers have been conducting in the Barker Street/Carpenter Avenue area and on nearby streets. This area has, and will continue, to receive enforcement attention from our officers who are committed to keeping the neighborhood safe.
