Larchmont Resident Receives Teaching & Public Service Award

Larchmont resident and Adjunct Professor of Public Administration (Pace University & John Jay College of Criminal Justice) Stephen Rolandi was honored recently (May 21, 2026) by the New York State Academy of Public Administration) as the recipient of the 2026 Arnold L. Steigman Excellent in Teaching and Public Service Award.

The ceremony was held at the State University of New York (SUNY)-Albany main campus on the evening of May 21, 2026.

The NYS Academy of Public Administration (SAPA) was established in 1974 and has been at the forefront of government at all levels in New York State and committed to fostering a culture of integrity, innovation and excellence in public service as a trusted resource for public service professionals.

Dr. Steigman, for whom this award was named, was a colleague of Steve Rolandi. Dr. Steigman served in 11 different state agencies, including the NYS Division of Human Rights, Department of Labor, and Office of General Services. 

A native of Brooklyn, NYC, Steve served (2008-13) as Deputy Commissioner for the New York State Division of Human Rights, the oldest civil rights agency in the USA. Steve also has 20 years experience with the City of New York, having served under 4 New York City Mayoral administrations.

Steve holds BA and MPA degrees from New York University, and studied law at Brooklyn Law School. He has held numerous leadership positions with the American Society of Public Administration:
