From Cait Conley, democratic candidate for Congress in NY-17:
“On July 7, 1976, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point enrolled female cadets for the first time. For the past 50 years, women have served, trained, and led at West Point and across the US Army from here at home to combat zones overseas. Many women – to include many West Point grads – have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.
I am so grateful to the women who came before me and broke barriers paving the way. Their stories inspired me all four years at West Point and then during my 16 years as an active duty Army officer.
It was the privilege of a lifetime to lead America’s sons and daughters overseas. It’s the lessons of leadership and service that I learned at West Point that drive me to want to serve my country in this new chapter. Duty, Honor, Country.”
