Somers Woman Arrested for DWI With “Life Threatening” BAC

On June 16, 2026, at approximately 5:45 p.m., New York State Police in Somers responded to West Hill Drive in the Town of Somers for a report of a property-damage motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle that struck a utility pole. No injuries were reported.

During the investigation, the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Maria Martinez De Luca, 45, of Somers, New York, displayed signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which she subsequently failed.

De Luca was taken into custody and transported to State Police Somers for processing, where she submitted to a chemical breath test, resulting in a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.35%.

As a result of the investigation, De Luca was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated: Per Se-BAC 0.18% or More Alcohol in Blood, No Prior Offenses, and Driving While Intoxicated, both unclassified misdemeanors.

De Luca was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Somers Court on July 6, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Following processing, De Luca was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation.

Medical Societies define “A blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.35% is an extremely dangerous and life-threatening level of alcohol poisoning. It is more than four times the legal driving limit and represents profound central nervous system depression.”

West Hill Drive is located in the Heritage Hills condo complex in Somers for residents 55 and over.
