As the nation prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, local artists are marking the occasion in a uniquely creative way – with cake.
“Cake,” a new exhibition opening Saturday, June 27, at the Blue Door Art Center, features nearly 30 artists from Yonkers and across Westchester County. Participants were invited to create three-dimensional cake sculptures inspired by their hopes, dreams, as the country approaches this historic milestone.
The exhibition showcases a variety of whimsical, heartfelt, and imaginative works, transforming the familiar birthday cake into a powerful symbol of celebration, reflection, and community. Visitors can expect an array of inventive creations that highlight the talent and creativity of the region’s artists. “We bring art to the people, for the people.” commented gallery director, Michele Amaro.
The Blue Door Art Center is located at 13 Riverdale Ave. in Yonkers. The exhibition runs from June 27 thru July 25, 2026 and welcomes the public to join in this artistic celebration of America’s upcoming 250th birthday.
Running beside “Cake,” the crowd-pleasing exhibition “Red, White, Blue and You” continues its’ run due to popular demand. Visit www.bluedoorartcenter.org for more info.
