On May 8, 2026, at approximately 12:15 a.m., New York State Police in Somers were dispatched to a private residence on Narcissus Drive in the town of Somers for a report of a male who had been shot.
Upon arrival, Troopers interviewed the victim, identified as John A. Fiore, 47, who reported that he opened the front door of his residence and observed an unknown male standing on the front steps. Fiore alleged the individual fired a single round from a handgun, striking him in the left knee.
A subsequent investigation conducted by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Somers determined that Fiore’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted and that the reported incident was fabricated.
On May 8, 2026, New York State Police executed a search warrant at Fiore’s residence in the town of Somers. The search resulted in the seizure of numerous firearms, including two reported stolen, psilocybin mushrooms, and multiple baggies containing a white powdery substance.
Fiore was charged with the following offenses:
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, a class A felony
- Seven counts Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, class C felonies
- Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, a class D felony
- Six counts Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, class D felonies
- Two counts Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, class A misdemeanors
- Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 3rd Degree, a class A misdemeanor
On May 9, 2026, Fiore was arraigned before a Westchester County Judge and remanded to custody. Fiore remains hospitalized due to his injuries and is scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on May 11, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
