TWO NEW ROCHELLE MEN CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH RAPING, MUGGING OF WOMAN NEAR NEW ROCHELLE HIGH SCHOOL

Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced today that two New Rochelle men were charged with multiple felonies in connection with the rape and subsequent mugging of a New Rochelle woman in October.

Destin Medina, 20, of New Rochelle, was charged in an indictment with Rape in the First Degree, a class B felony, two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, a class C felony, Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony, Rape in the Third Degree, a class E felony, and Forcible Touching, a class A misdemeanor.

Lonell Alexander, 22, of New Rochelle, was charged in an indictment with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, a class C felony, and Assault in the Second Degree, a class D felony.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges during their arraignments last week. Judge Susan Capeci provided temporary orders of protection on behalf of the victim. Medina’s case was adjourned to July 14, and Lonell’s case was adjourned to July 16. Both defendants have posted bail.

DA Cacace said: “The assaults the victim was made to endure were amplified tenfold when she was revictimized over and over again during an unsparing, alleged attack. I am proud of her bravery and composure in coming forward to share her story with the police, and I will honor this bravery by doing everything in my power to hold these defendants accountable for what they allegedly did to her that day.

All rape survivors have a champion in my office.” According to a felony complaint earlier filed in the case, on or about Oct. 10, 2025, Medina raped the victim in the vicinity of New Rochelle High School. After the rape, Medina lured the victim to another area nearby, where, aided by Lonell and a third individual, they punched and kicked the victim repeatedly, during which Medina snatched the victim’s purse from her, the complaint alleges.

Eventually, the victim was able to run away and was aided by a good Samaritan. Medina, Lonell and the third individual kept the victim’s purse, according to the complaint.

This case was investigated by the New Rochelle Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Daniela Pisahov.
