Local Youths Celebrated as New Eagle Scouts

L-R-Mathew Guerra, Jack Truax, and Viktor Berishaj

Troop 12 proudly held an Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Viktor Berishaj, Mathew Guerra, and Jack Truax on March 15, 2026, in the Sacred Heart School cafeteria. The ceremony honored the remarkable achievements of these three young men in attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in  Scouting America.

Family, friends, and community leaders gathered to celebrate the dedication, hard work and commitment it takes to earn the rank of Eagle. The event featured speeches from fellow Scouts, leaders, and community representatives who shared their admiration for the honorees’ service and leadership.

Viktor’s Eagle Scout project involved refurbishing the performance area at St. Anthony Church and School, including sanding and painting the stage floor and constructing shelving. He is currently a senior at Iona Preparatory School and plans to attend college in the fall.

Mathew’s Eagle Scout project transformed an underutilized grassy area at DiChiaro School into an engaging and functional outdoor classroom. He is a senior at Fordham Preparatory School and plans to attend college in the fall.

For his Eagle Scout project, Jack designed and planted a pollinator garden on Ferris Avenue in White Plains, creating a lasting impact on the community. He is currently a senior at Yonkers High School and plans to attend college in the fall.

Each of these projects required planning, leadership, and the coordination of  volunteer teams, demonstrating the skills and values central to Scouting.

Troop 12 has served the Yonkers community for over 85 years, fostering leadership, teamwork, and community service among its members.  The achievements of Viktor, Mathew, and Jack add to the troop’s proud legacy and inspire younger Scouts to strive for excellence.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt recognition of the honorees’ accomplishments, symbolizing the perseverance, dedication, and community spirit that Scouting instills in its members.
