Rabbi Mendy Hurwitz, Chabad of Yonkers, visited Yonkers City Hall with some Passover staples. His daughters gave Deputy Mayor Steve Levy some matzah and challah.
Mayor Spano said, “As Passover begins, I extend my warmest wishes to all in Yonkers celebrating this special holiday. Passover is a time to gather with loved ones and reflect on the enduring story of freedom, resilience, and faith. The values at the heart of Passover inspire and strengthen our community. May your holiday be filled with peace, joy, and meaningful moments with family and friends.”
In 2026, Passover begins at sundown on Wednesday, April 1, and ends at nightfall on Thursday, April 9. The eight-day festival (seven days in Israel and for some Reform communities) features a ceremonial Seder on the first two nights (April 1 and 2), commemorating the Exodus from Egypt.
