Best of Bach Concert

Cathy Yang, Violin

On Sunday, March 22nd at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 25 North Broadway, Irvington NY, 7:30 pm, the
newly formed nonprofit organization Szabo Chamber Music Society, now in its second year, will present a tour de force concert presenting the most famous compositions by J. S. Bach.

Beethoven famously referred to Bach as “the father of us all” due to his unparalleled technical mastery of counterpoint, harmony, and prolific composition. The program will include the dramatic organ Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, meditative prelude from the G major Suite for cello, the virtuosic prelude from Partita in E Major for violin, the breathtaking Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3, the exuberant Badinerie
from Orchestral Suite No. 2, and the exhilarating Brandenburg Concerto No. 5. The second half of the concert will feature Bach’s famous Coffee Cantata, his only comic opera Buffa, sung in English, which will be staged.

Renowned soloists will include Cathy Yang, violin, Khaory Hinata, flute, Andy Kim, cello, Dr. Sandor Szabo, harpsichord, organ and conductor, Holly Thomas, soprano, Spencer Smith, bass and Brenten Megee, tenor.

Delicious coffee and dessert will be served following the concert. This exciting concert
is not to be missed!

Tickets are $25, adults, $20 seniors and $5 students. Donations gratefully accepted and are tax deductible.
