2025 Westchester Elections: Jenkins and Sculti Lead Their Tickets, Both Campaigning Hard

By Dan Murphy

Election 2025 in Westchester has no contests for President, Congress, or Governor, so at the top of the ticket will be the two candidates for Westchester County Executive; Democrat incumbent County Executive Ken Jenkins and republican Christine Sculti. This is a rematch of the contest between the two earlier this year when Jenkins won the special election to fill out the term for Congressman George Latimer.

Sculti is making her third run for County Executive in just one year. She lost to Latimer last November and to Jenkins in February, both times by more than 25 points. But with each election challenge, to her credit, Sculti has improved her message and her campaign activity. This election, she has been seen all over the county at events, festivals, and outdoor gatherings.

Sculti has also attempted to tie Jenkins to controversial state and national issues, including crime, ICE, and comments made by some public employees and officials after the death of Charlie Kirk.

But the national support for President Donald Trump has not yet reached Westchester and may never do so. And the financial contributions that Sculti needed from republicans and conservatives to fuel her campaign never materialized. But she keeps on keeping on.

Jenkins is taking nothing for granted this election. He is attending small and large events, shaking hands, and joining supporters across the county.

Democrats we spoke to are not worried about any of the local races in Westchester County, but are happy that Jenkins is giving it his all.

Jenkins will likely help democrats in many of the local races in Westchester in November. All 17 seats are up on the County Board of Legislators, with Democrats currently holding a 15-2 advantage.

There are several seats where republicans are fielding candidates who are running active campaigns. We hope to highlight those next week.

Town Board races in Yorktown and Harrison have republicans looking to hold onto their control, while in Peekskill, democrats are looking to keep their edge.

There are also four seats up on the NYS Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District, which includes Westchester. And all four democratic candidates are from Westchester. Yonkers City Court Judge Veris Shako, Chief Clerk Diane Clerkin, Judge John Collins, and Judge Desmond Lyons.

While all four republican candidates are from further north in the 9th JD. They are Judge Ray Raiche, Thomas Humbach, Judge George Smith, and Kiel Van Horn

Judicial elections have become more noteworthy considering all of the turmoil on the national level.

Westchester County Clerk Tim Idoni is not seeking reelection. Democrats have nominated White Plains Mayor Tom Roach, and Republicans have nominated Eastchester Town Board member Sheila Marcotte.

More details on the Westchester elections next week.
