I haven’t had a good chopped liver sandwich in ages.You know, a sandwich on a fresh onion roll with seeds or for that matter, a mound of chopped liver surrounded by crackers where you dip the crackers into the chopped liver surrounded and consume an amount that causes stomach trouble.
As a kid growing eating liver I got stomach stress called the ‘hulucches.’ Every family had that one food item that caused distress! Usually you would lie down and within a half hour you would feel better, an alka seltzer or brioschi to lead the way. But last week it sort of got to my hence the lousy proofreading of my column. I guess I ate just a little too much after eating a bland diet during my hospital stay.
There’s so many questions now to what the term soft bland diet means.For one part of the dieting spectrum instead of vegetables and proteins they are telling folks to go back to carbohydrate laced diet. We shall see what the ultimate quiet is when more research us done.
Its hot outside. The heat we gave been going through seems stronger than in years past. Is it the heat or is it that we are getting older. Wether it be Firemen, policemen, public works employee cool fresh air is not coming their their way.
Our OFFICE FOR THE aging brings meals all over Yonkers for the good fortune of our senior citizens, many without air conditioning in their apartments. This service is a blessing, as without it the people would go hungry. Call City Hall if you want to take part.
When you observe City of Yonkers employees working hard, hand them a bottle of cold water . That is a simple little thing you can do-to make riger their day a little brighter.
