TherapyCare Opens New Yonkers Center

Kart applies spinal decompression technique on a patient

By Robert Kalfus

TherapyCare, a physical therapy center improving the health, strength and mobility of patients since five years ago at 1019 Yonkers Ave., will soon be moving to a new location, at 1254 Central Park Ave., Yonkers.

Physical therapist and owner Karthigayen Gopala Krishnan, known affectionately to all as “Kart,” has seen the number of patients responding well and improving as a result of his care techniques expand to almost 400 in the past year. Therefore, Kart said he saw the need for a new and larger location where he and his expanded staff of experienced male and female therapists can benefit adults, seniors, veterans, pediatrics and post-operative care patients with advanced, pain-free therapy techniques.

Kart invites the Yonkers and Westchester community to an open house Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new office, where the many different therapy techniques can be seen. A ceremonial ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 10 a.m. with Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano. Lunch and refreshments will be available, along with demonstrations of world-class therapy techniques. A limited amount of free parking is available in the parking lot, as well as free street parking.

TherapyCare is located at the street level, making for easy wheelchair and handicapped accessibility.

Kart began his academic career at Pondicherry University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy (first class). He has a master’s degree in physical therapy and a master’s in business administration (health care), which allows him to manage the patient care for his patients’ best outcomes. TherapyCare currently has two other locations – one in the Bronx and another in Pleasantville, at 101 Castleton St., suite 204, which has a fully equipped fitness center and sports physical therapy clinic.

Kart noted that the new expanded Yonkers facility, in addition to all the current therapy services, will feature a senior fitness center, pediatric rehabilitation, balance therapy, neuro rehabilitation and post-operative care, as an integral part of his physical therapy center.

“Our focus is on delivering exceptional results and services, learning new techniques, advancing our capabilities and, of course, having an exceptional team environment,” he said. “We have many different types of therapies, all designed to improve patients’ movement, increase strength and functioning, and relieve pain without the use of medication. We utilize the Mulligan Concept and others, seeking to improve each patient’s movement with the application of pain-free, hands-on techniques.

“Our health care practitioners specialize in the care of patients with musculoskeletal pain. We also apply the McKenzie Method, the Maitland Method, the Game Ready Ice System, therapeutic massage, therapeutic exercise, pediatric therapy, Active Release Technique, vestibular rehabilitation, neuro developmental therapy, the NormaTec Leg/Hand Compression System and the Graston Technique (a type of manual therapy using instruments to release soft tissue tightness and improve connective tissues and muscle functions).”

Visit the TherapyCare website at www.TherapyCares.net or call 914-294-0080 to make an appointment for care.
