Alexander Bravo Wins Yonkers City Clerk Passport Sign Design Contest

The Yonkers City Clerk’s Office proudly unveiled a brand-new sign for the City Clerk’s Passport Office, created by Alexander Bravo, an 11th-grade student at Saunders Trades and Technical High School. The unveiling marks the culmination of the City Clerk’s Sign Design Contest, which saw over 200 submissions from talented high school students across Yonkers.

Alexander’s winning design will now be a permanent fixture in City Hall, showcasing not only his creativity but also the remarkable talent of Yonkers’ young artists. The contest was launched to engage students in civic life while providing them with an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on their city.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Alexander’s achievement and the incredible creativity of all the students who participated,” said Yonkers City Clerk Vincent Spano. “This initiative highlights the artistic talent in our community and gives students a unique opportunity to contribute to their local government in a meaningful way.”

The contest received an overwhelming response from students across the city, with submissions reflecting a variety of artistic styles and interpretations. A panel of judges carefully reviewed the entries, ultimately selecting Alexander’s design for its creativity, and representation of the Passport Office’s mission.

Since its opening in February 2022, the Yonkers City Clerk’s Passport Office has been an overwhelming success, processing over 13,000 passport applications. Due to the high demand, the office recently relocated to a larger space within City Hall to better accommodate residents.

The newly installed sign, designed by Alexander, now welcomes visitors to the expanded facility.
Residents are encouraged to stop by and see Alexander’s outstanding work firsthand.
