MUSIC AT ASBURY FREE CONCERT SERIES:

Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church is delighted to present a Black History Month program titled “Black, Hot & Blue: Celebrating the Black Artist and the Great American Torch Song Book.” Admission is FREE, but tax-deductible donations are gratefully accepted.
BLACK, HOT AND BLUE is an original musical revue celebrating the great black artists of mid-twentieth century America who popularized many standards from the Great American Songbook. With songs and stories, we will pay tribute to such great performers as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Louis Armstong, Nat King Cole, Lena Horne, Fats Waller, Bessie Smith, Sarah Vaughan, Sam Cooke, Ethel Waters, Etta James, and more. Through their unique artistic gifts, these singers left an indelible stamp on American popular music. BLACK, HOT AND BLUE will feature music of Rodgers & Hart, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael, Jerome Kern, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, among others.

Music at Asbury was launched in November of 2014 by Lu Gmoser, founding producer of Asbury Summer Theatre, and renowned music educator, Dr. Earl F. Groner. As a program of Asbury-Crestwood United Methodist Church, Music at Asbury is designed to serve as a social service to the community, offering free performances by some of New York City and the Hudson Valley’s finest musical artists.
Concerts are held in the sanctuary at Asbury United Methodist Church, 167 Scarsdale Rd, Tuckahoe, NY; ample parking is available. Priority seating will be given to those with reservations.
