The Charter School of Educational Excellence (CSEE) Owls clinched the 2024 High School Varsity New York State championship in the City Schools Sports Association (CSSA) on November 9, defeating the AECI2 of the Bronx in a decisive 3-1 victory.
The rivalry between the Owls and AECI2 intensified this season, with AECI2 narrowly defeating CSEE at the Owls’ homecoming game in October. However, the championship win solidified CSEE’s place as a dominant force in the CSSA.
“The players’ hard work and commitment truly paid off,” said CSEE athletic director Michael DeSimone. “This victory showcases not only their athletic talent but also their dedication to excellence in all areas of life.”
The Owls’ 13-player varsity volleyball team boasts a remarkable 4.0 GPA.
CSEE’s K-12 charter school offers a robust athletics program with 21 sports teams across its middle and high schools. In addition to volleyball, students participate in flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, cheerleading, and track across fall, winter, and spring seasons.
The CSEE is now accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year. Information sessions begin on December 11 for grades K-7 at 260 Warburton Avenue in Yonkers. Tours of the high school begin on February 19. For more information call 914-476-5070, X:4 or visit the CSEE’s website.
