Mexico is well-known for its resorts, culture, cuisine, and celebrations. Experiencing all of these things on the Pacific coast is definitely doubled joy. You should know that, apart from the TOP and world-famous resorts, like Cancun, there are many other splendid travel destinations in Mexico. They also offer the rest close to a luxury one. Have you ever heard about Puerto Vallarta, for instance?

This is a splendid resort that opens a blend of interesting sightseeing, events, gorgeous beaches, and many more. If you are tired of a busy life, you can find a sweet escape in this city. Barceló Hotel Occidental Puerto Vallarta is one of the places of this kind, located close to the ocean and a bit far from a busy life. It enables you to experience a splendid local atmosphere and have a good rest. Here is why Puerto Vallarta is the right travel destination for this purpose.

Why to Visit Puerto Vallarta?

Even if Mexico has a distinct culture in general, Puerto Vallarta stands out in this context even more, for many reasons:

1. Old Town (Zona Romantica)

You can see, walk slowly, and admire the gorgeous old buildings here. This location is full of different cozy cafes, noisy bars, boutiques, splendid art galleries, etc. All of these places make a pretty striking contrast with the old Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It is built in the Neo-Baroque style and has an intricate bell tower. The latter attraction offers truly stunning views of the city.

2. Beaches

Since the city is located in Banderas Bay, there are lots of gorgeous places to have a rest here: Boca de Tomates, Playa de Oro, Malecon Beach, Amapas Beach, etc. You can find more than 20 gorgeous beaches to visit here!

There are plenty of activities to try in Puerto Vallarta too — snorkeling, kayaking, hiking, and yachting, to mention a few. Of course, it is necessary to keep in mind and adhere to some reasonable precautions measures only.

If you are not keen on some extreme sports, you may join any of the splendid beach tours. Locals are very open and share lots of interesting stories with tourists.

Have you ever tried, or even heard, about a water taxi? You can have a ride here. For instance, it is possible to reach the nearby villages that are not overcrowded but have the same splendid beaches.

3.  Malecon

The place deserves special attention for a reason. This is an oceanfront boardwalk! While strolling along it, you can see lots of interesting things — amazing sculptures and fantastic local performers. There is even no need to describe how magnificent the views of Banderas Bay are here. Two definite must-haves are seeing the sunrise and sunset here, at least once each. The views are hard to forget for sure.

4. Restaurants

Even if you are fond of and have tried lots of Mexican dishes, Puerto Vallarta still has something to impress you. If you reach this destination, visit its iconic restaurant La Palapa. It offers stunning tropical Mexican cuisine and is located on the picturesque seashore.

Apart from this famous restaurant, there are lots of other worthy spots offering many tasty dishes that you can taste while gazing at the ocean. Sounds great, isn’t it?

5. Local culture and nightlife

This resort has a huge variety of cultural events to visit. You may be particularly fond of the local galleries. Still, even if you are merely walking through the streets, you can occasionally become a part of a traditional Mexican fiesta. There are also many street dance performances to enjoy. These are gorgeous opportunities to witness local folklore.

Puerto Vallarta also has a truly vibrant nightlife. You can go to many great nightclubs here. It is even possible to take a night cruise to the overcrowded Las Caletas beach. There are lots of locations to feel the rhythms of the night accompanied by live Mexican music, of course.

Bottom Line

Puerto Vallarta is a small part of paradise on the Earth. Explore it through the traditional Mexican culture and numerous local attractions. Meanwhile, go to numerous splendid beaches to have more rest.

The single difficulty is that visiting and enjoying all of these amazing spots will require approximately one month. But, Puerto Vallarta is definitely a resort you may want to come back to once again.
